The Legend of Aerosmith

Rock bands have attempted to combine the best of rock and blues music for decades, but Aerosmith took this combination to new heights in the 1970’s and raised the bar of perfection that other groups would attempt to reach.

The group was formed in Boston, MA in the early 1970’s, despite the fact that none of the group members were from Boston.  Composed of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Taylor, Aerosmith began performing live shows around the Boston area.  Each member had previous experience in other rock bands.

Aerosmith has been creating some of rock’s most famous singles and albums for nearly 40 years.  Early in the 1980’s the band separated for personal and substance abuse issues, but in the mid-80’s successfully re-united.  From the 1990’s to the present day Aerosmith has continued to build upon its fan base and has become one of the world’s most famous groups.  The style and success of Aerosmith has inspired the careers of other famous heavy metal rock bands, such as Guns ‘N Roses.  Competing with the likes of such music icons as Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones is never easy, yet Aerosmith has come to be recognized as America’s Rock Band.  With total album sales in excess of 100 million worldwide, numerous gold and platinum albums, and more Grammy and MTV awards than any other American rock group, Aerosmith is indeed one of the legends of rock music for all the ages.

In conclusion, Aerosmith enjoys success and they overcame the pitfalls of adversity that very few groups have attained.
