Aerosmith

America has seen a lot of bands on its touring stages, but after a few years, most bands break apart for a variety of reasons.  Internal conflict seems to be an inherent curse in the life of a band member, and you wouldn’t be alone in wondering what music the world has missed out on because of the premature end to the careers of so many promising musicians.  However, one of America’s favorite bands has defied these odds and succeeded in staying together and producing music for 38 years.

Called America’s greatest rock and roll band, Aerosmith was formed in 1970 by a group of boys in Boston, Massachusetts.  Although not all the original members are still a part of this immensely popular American band, Aerosmith has managed to survive drug addictions, periods of musical failure, unpopular music and the ever present internal conflict every band faces.  But the difference with Aerosmith is that they fought back and refused to give up.  Today they are as strong as ever and are one of the only bands known by separate generations equally well.

Aerosmith has also been nicknamed sometimes “The Bad Boys from Boston,” and are the bestselling American hard rock band of all time.  They have sold a total of 150 million albums throughout the world and 66.5 million albums in America.  They have won four Grammy Awards and 10 MTV Video Music Awards.

The band has had members that range from former dishwashers to former Berklee College of Music students.  The current members include Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer.
