A History

Do you know the complete history of Aerosmith? Though many people think that this rock band began during the 1980s, Aerosmith has been around a lot longer than that. From the time Steven Tyler met Joe Perry in Sunapee, New Hampshire, this band has been going full throttle every since.

When Steven Tyler was on vacation in Sunapee Harbor in New Hampshire, he met up with Joe Perry (who was washing dishes at the Anchorage restaurant), and the two instantly hit it off. Tyler was a drummer and vocalist originally from Yonkers, New York, when he bumped into Perry. Eventually, Perry introduced Tyler to Tom Hamilton who was (at that time) Perry’s band mate in The Jam Band. Soon after, Hamilton and Perry moved to Boston, Massachusetts where they met up with Joey Kramer. When Hamilton, Perry, and Kramer (who happened to know Tyler already) found Tyler once again, Tyler refused to be in the band unless he could be the lead singer. All band members agreed, and Aerosmith was born.

Though the band wasn’t a huge hit at first, once they really started to get together fans began to respond. Some say that the best Aerosmith songs come from the band’s beginnings, though their recent stuff has gained quite a bit of popularity as well. From a small town New Hampshire vacation to the realization that the world is a small place after all, Aerosmith seems to have carved a permanent notch within the realms of rock and roll history.
