Brad Whitford

Though Aerosmith originally began with guitarist Ray Tabano, Steven Tyler’s childhood friend (Tabano) would be quickly replaced by Brad Whitford. Whitford has been with Aerosmith since 1971, and he is the man behind many of those great power ballads. Whitford’s musical background is seeped in instruction as he originally hailed from the world renowned Berklee College of Music.

Although Aerosmith was largely popular during the 1970s, the band fell slightly out of the popular eye during the early 1980s. During this time, Whitford left the band to form a duo with singer Derek St. Holmes called Whitford/St. Holmes (the two never really made any progress). After splitting from Holmes, Whitford spent a little while touring with The Joe Perry Project, but both Perry and Whitford would join up with Aerosmith once again during the mid-1980s. After all band members decided to go to rehabilitation for their various addictions, Aerosmith got on its feet again and Whitford would stay with the band this time.

Though Whitford was faithful to Aerosmith, he also spent some time as a producer for The Neighborhoods. Whitford is well known for the many efforts that he put towards the songs “Last Child,” Nobody’s Fault,” and “Round and Round.” Though Perry is the guitarist that many fans prefer, Whitford spends much of his time contributing to songs through guitar and writing skills alike. As are many of his other bandmates, Whitford thoroughly enjoys racing cars and spending his time viewing antique and foreign sports cars. Whitford is still with the band, Aerosmith, today much to the surprise of many fans.
